Theta Chi For Life

Joining a fraternity isn't like joining any other organization, having any other job, or participating in any other event. Joining a fraternity is making a promise among men; the same promise that the founders of the fraternity made to each other so long ago. It is a tie unbreakable by adversity, strife, disagreement, or time. That promise is something that unites men from every corner of the Earth who share the ideals and principles of the great men who have come before them. It is because of this bond that we share with every member of our brotherhood that the friendships, the memories,  and the positive influence that Theta Chi has had on the community continue to resonate with today's men. This is what makes Theta Chi Fraternity something men today want to be a part of.

Alumni are just as important as the active membership in Theta Chi because of all of these things. The continued involvement of alumni members is crucial to the success of many chapters, as it is a means of preserving the history, traditions, ideals, and lessons of the men who founded this great brotherhood. It is commonly said that members of Theta Chi are "Theta Chi For Life"; this saying holds true in many respects of an alumnus's life.

An alumnus brother is a "Theta Chi For Life" in the sense that they will always be part of the history of our chapter.

Phi chapter realizes the impact that the men who came before us have made every day; every time we step into our house, we know it is a home that brothers had built for us. We realize that those who came before us have kept the house in a state that we may now live in it. We recognize the 11 Howard R. Alter Awards for Chapter Excellence that we have as a sign that the men who were before us have also built us the reputation we have as a nationally recognized chapter. Our historic house is full of a history that serves as a constant reminder that as it once was a home for alumni, is currently a home for the active membership, and will continue to be a home for the men to come, it is "The House That Brotherhood Built".

Alumni are "Theta Chi For Life" because of the ties that they always have with their brothers. The second paragraph of the Creed of Theta Chi reads:  "It Inspires True Friendship". This is true of any man who is a brother- they are a part of a deep brotherhood of men from Phi Chapter and over men from all over the continent who have the love and respect for each other that is only shared between brothers of our fraternity. Events like our annual Pig Banquet allow a chance for these men to come back to the place that they once lived and reconnect with old friends and begin new friendships with the active chapter.

Alumni are "Theta Chi For Life" in the sense that the spirit of the helping hand shall continue to be a motto that they can hold themselves to for the rest of their life. It's never too late in one's life to help someone or make a difference in one's world.  Now more than ever, when the world is constantly changing and the news is a constant reminder of the injustices and hurt in the world today, the men of Theta Chi extend a helping hand and make a difference. The work that the active chapter does should be a testimony to the work that alumni have done in the over-100-year history of Phi Chapter, and over-150-year history of Theta Chi Fraternity. Alumni continue to help the active chapter in the form of financial support, active involvement in alumni council roles, and in their continued encouragement and relations with the chapter.
